Inspiration
Most students are age have it rough finding the time, energy, and money to cook our own meals. A lot of college students often resort to eating cheaper junk food. Our team of four didn't think this had to be the case, and with RecipeReady anyone can find the time to enjoy making healthy satisfying meals.
What it does
RecipeReady is an Android app that prioritizes the user's choice. It contains a search engine that looks at how much time you have and your tastes to determine the best recipe suggestions. RecipeReady keeps track of your favorite recipes, the statistics of how often you view each recipe, and the trends of the most popular recipes to give you quick recommendations.
How I built it
RecipeReady is an Android application made in Android Studio using Java. We used Android Studio APIs like Navigation View, Scroll View, Search View, and List View.
Challenges I ran into
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
In 36 hours, we have made an app that actually works!
What I learned
Most probems can be avoided with proper communication and careful planning.
What's next for RecipeReady
Adding more data to the backend and supporting it with cloud APIs such as Firebase. There were several features beyond the scope of our MVP that we really wanted to add. For example, an auto-generating shopping list that makes it easier for users to plan their grocery shopping each week.
