Inspiration
We both have to cook our own food and never know what to cook with the food that we have at home.
What it does
This tool is a simple solution to figuring out what food to make. The user will enter in the the ingredients they have in their home and then the recipenator will output recipies that includes all the ingredients.
How we built it
We built it using Spring Tool Suite, EDAMAM recipe API, Java, and React. Split into two Github repos.
Challenges we ran into
The first challenge we ran into was figuring out what tools to use to build our idea. Since we had to utilize an API to get all the recipes we decided that the Spring Tool Suite would be a good fit. Another challenge we faced was parsing through the information collected by the API. The API generated a ton of information that we did not need for our site.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of having a working front end where we are able to get a list of recipes based on user input.
What we learned
We learned a lot about APIs, building software, front end, and back end.
What's next for Recipenator
We plan on adding more to the website to make it look nicer.
