Inspiration

One of our team members was a food science major, and we wanted to build an app so he could get cheap ingredients for his meal ideas.

What it does

Input any meal you are in the mood for! RecipeAI will automatically generate ingredients, scan nearby stores to find the cheapest ingredient options in your area for your meal, and also generate step by step recipes!

How we built it

We used LLM's to generate the ingredients list, and Webscraper API's to look for nearby stores. The frontend was built using React/Javascript, and backend was built using Flask/Python.

Challenges we ran into

One team member was a Food Science major who had never coded before.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We ended up getting a working solution at the end!

What we learned

This is our first hackathon so we learned a lot about working on a team under quick deadlines.

What's next for RecipeAI

We plan on adding more exciting things like connecting to grocery store websites so you could order directly from the website, or having a database to keep track of saved recipes, and more exciting stuff with LLM's!
