Inspiration
Our inspiration for 'Recipe Site: Let Her Cook' stemmed from a shared passion for cooking and a desire to make culinary exploration more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Initially, it was born out of the idea to create a platform for storing recipes we wanted to try, essentially building an online cookbook for ourselves.
What it does
The website allows users to discover new recipes with a simple click of a button, submit recipes, edit old ones, and easily find recipes based on categories. It's a platform that encourages culinary creativity and sharing.
How we built it
We built it using npm and EJS for the front end, with our database hosted on MongoDB Atlas. We harnessed the power of these technologies to ensure a seamless and dynamic user experience.
Challenges we ran into
Building this project presented several challenges, including database integration and ensuring a responsive design for various devices and screen sizes. Additionally, optimizing the search functionality to deliver accurate results posed a significant challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was the first time we used MongoDB in a project and the learning curve was relatively steep. We having created a user-friendly and engaging platform that encourages culinary enthusiasts to share their passion.
What we learned
We gained valuable experience in web development, database management, and user experience design. We also learned the importance of effective teamwork and project planning.
What's next for Recipe Site: Let Her Cook
We plan to enhance the platform with more advanced features such as personalized recipe recommendations based on ingredients the user has as well as developing an interactive map so users can find food from certain regions.
