Inspiration
I was inspired to create this project when my mom and I were baking a cake. The cake tasted amazing, but we soon lost the recipe. After spending almost an hour searching for that same cake recipe, I realized there was a problem in what I was doing. There should be something to save recipes, like we can save photos. I didn't want to save a recipe to my phone as a screenshot, or to my bookmarks tab because this is limiting and inefficient. Therefore, I decided to create a website that can save recipes that you find or even make on your own!
What it does
The website that I built saves a recipe that you can create. You can simply put the link of a recipe that you found online or describe a recipe that you created into the website, and it will save the recipe that you created. You can check back on your saved recipes on the site anytime you want.
How I built it
I built this website using basic knowledge of github-pages and more advanced knoweldge of html/css/js.
Challenges I ran into
I ran in to many challenges in the programming part of this project. I solved these problems by searching the internet for hours on end. I even contacted highly advanced javascript developers online to help with a major problem.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of/What I learned
I am proud of the web development skills that I refined. In addition, I take pride in the fact that I solved a problem that I faced in real life. Creating this project was a learning experience for me, and developed my researching and problem solving skills. I also learned that any problem that you face in real life has a solution, no matter how large or small that problem may be.
What's next for Recipe Saver
In the future, I would like to make a page that would give you curated recipes from the internet based on your personal preference in food. I believe that this addition would be great for those looking to cook new things.
