Inspiration

You come out after a hard and boring day at university or work to find out you're craving something delicious, and your appetite is taking the best of you. You decide to order something quick from UberEats, but again, is it always good to spend money on outside food? Is it sustainable to eat junk food? Or maybe healthy food with secret methods of preparation that you can't give your 100% trust?

You decide to improve your habits and go to your refrigerator. Your refrigerator has a few ingredients only, and you're confused about what to make. The solution to the problem is not a lot of Google search, but Recipe Roulette, a tool that helps you create delicious and exploratory meals from across the globe.

What it does

Recipe Roulette focuses on building recipes that you can tweak using your ingredients as your creative assistant. Decide how you want it and how healthy you want the recipe to be to get pics and a step-by-step guide on how you can build it with a few options that you can rotate from.

The roulette includes health advisories for the recipe and build times so you can make sure you're choosing the best one according to your appetite and energy. Moreover, you can order the remaining ingredients from the amazon links it generates! If you can’t, the chat can help you find alternatives.

How we built it

The Roulette uses Amazon PartyRock to build recipes that the users love. From dedicated chat to pics to crave you more the tech has all of it that a recipe generator requires. I would go on bragging about it but checking out is better. PS: Please check it after you have food or I don’t want you to start creating delicious recipes in between the hackathon.

Challenges we ran into

Mostly, navigating response and tweaking the prompt. Moreover, generating the links for Amazon orders was difficult but it was figured out soon. This will help people shop for items from Amazon quickly and get the rest of the ingredients or which AI things aren't normally available. The links work and can be helpful for anyone using the product. Focusing on temperature and Top to reduce response time and accuracy of all these generations was also a bit challenging but we figured it out.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Generally, I am happy with providing health-related data as well as cooking time. Next is an end-to-end solution that does provide good recipes from all the geography because sometimes you want to experience a new culture :D

What's next for Recipe Roulette

Next, I want to try AI ingredient identification that makes the process simpler and more streamlined. With time, I would want to have a community around it where people from different cultures can upload recipes that our model can train and give more variety to the users. For example, I am from Bengal in India where they have good fish recipes but it’s not available in the model yet. I believe this will be similar across more geographies so I want to make sure these are listed when new iterations are launched. If possible, I also want to integrate this with smart fridges that can show the ingredients you have and provide suggestions on edge. This is the most exciting thing in my opinion creating a different feature for a lot of refrigeration companies and launching the product to more places.
