Inspiration
The inspiration behind Recipe Rescue stems from a common challenge many individuals face - preventing food waste. We wanted to create a solution that not only helps users keep track of their produce's expiration dates but also provides creative ideas for using ingredients before they go bad.
What it does
Recipe Rescue is a website/app designed to ensure that your produce never goes to waste. It sends alerts when items are close to their expiration dates and offers suggestions on how to incorporate those ingredients into delicious recipes. Additionally, the platform aims to foster community connections by enabling users to share surplus food nearing expiration with others in their local community.
How we built it
Throughout the development process, we focused on building an intuitive and user-friendly platform. We utilized a combination of web and app development technologies to create a seamless experience. Our backend system is robust, handling data efficiently and providing timely notifications to users. However, we encountered challenges on the front-end, as our team faced the hurdle of not having prior experience in front-end development.
