Recipe Receiver

Inspiration

We wanted to make an app to inspire people to use the materials they had at home to cook instead of eating out or buying more ingredients to foster creativity in the souls of our generations.

What it does

The app reverse searches recipes based on ingredients the user inputs.

How we built it

We mainly focused on using PHP, and HTML, however we also created a version made with Python. We also used an API known as Recipe-Puppy to use as our database of recipes.

Challenges we ran into

it was difficult integrate the api into our project, and it was very hard finding a free API that would accommodate the specific parts of out project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud with the way we were able to setup the conversions between seemingly nonsensical JSON files and a readable HTML table using PHP.

What we learned

We mainly learned about app creation, PHP, as well as API integration in both Python and PHP.

What's next for Recipe Receiver

We wish to polish the ap itself, while also adding more features such as the prices of specific ingredients, and locations where one may buy them using Google Map's API.
