Inspiration

The inspiration for our recipe generator app came from the everyday dilemma of looking into a pantry full of ingredients but having no idea what to cook. We wanted to create a solution that not only suggests delicious recipes based on available ingredients but also inspires users to try new dishes. Our goal was to simplify meal planning and make cooking at home as effortless and enjoyable as possible.

What it does

Our app is a no-code solution built on Amazon PartyRock that transforms the way people think about meal preparation. Users simply enter the ingredients they have on hand, and the app instantly recommends three tailored recipes. Each suggestion comes with detailed, step-by-step instructions and automatically generated images to guide users through the cooking process. This intuitive app aims to reduce food waste, encourage culinary exploration, and make cooking accessible to everyone, regardless of their experience level.

How we built it

Leveraging the no-code capabilities of Amazon PartyRock, we designed our app to be intuitive and user-friendly. Unleashing the magic of prompt engineering, we meticulously craft prompts for generating the recipe. And for that visual wow factor? We call upon the prowess of Stable Diffusion XL to conjure up breathtaking images of the dishes.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we want to user to input an image of things in refrigerator, however, the PartyRock platform doesn't support image as input yet. We change the input to be text input of ingredients. To make it easy for user to enter the ingredients, we added an widget to random generate the hint.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of creating a fully functional, no-code app that genuinely solves a common problem. Seeing our app recommend delicious recipes and guide users with visual instructions is immensely satisfying. We're also proud of the positive feedback from users who have discovered new favorite dishes and feel more confident in the kitchen. Our team's ability to overcome technical challenges and deliver a polished product is a significant accomplishment.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned the power of no-code platforms in bringing innovative ideas to life quickly and efficiently. We gained insights into AI and machine learning technologies, particularly in natural language processing and image generation. The importance of user experience design and iterative testing also became evident as we refined the app based on user feedback. This project has been a tremendous learning opportunity in blending technology with culinary arts.

What's next for Recipe Generator

We are looking to add image input feature whenever is possible on PartyRock.
