Inspiration

Through out the pandemic, I found that cooking really helped me to pass the time but also bring joy to my family amidst the craziness of the year. This app is inspired by the need to find new dishes to try!

What it does

This application is simple, users can submit ingredients to the app as well as any dietary preferences, and the app will find at most ten different dishes that meets the requirement.

How we built it

I used ReactJS, CSS, and Edamam Recipe API

Challenges we ran into

I had never used an API before, so this is my first time implementing an API within a React application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am super happy that I was able to accomplish this app and integrating my idea with an API even if it is a simple product.

What we learned

I learned that trying out a new skill within a hackathon setting is really fun, and that the time limit is a good way of motivating myself to get something done efficiently.

What's next for Recipe Finder

Since this app is really simple, I am hoping to improve and add more functionalities to it, such as filtering by meal time/dish type etc...
