Inspiration
I thought it would be very convenient to be able to order ingredients based on a recipe all on one website.
What it does
Allows users to search for recipes based on keyword searches, read detailed information about a recipe and curate a list of ingredients priced by Walmart's API.
How I built it
I used asp.Net MVC 5 to generate a website application and used the controller to call all of the business logic.
Challenges I ran into
I had a difficult time finding a good recipe API, and getting that API to send me JSON instead of XML.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I have a much better understanding of API usage and documentation.
What I learned
How to get JSON from an API.
What's next for Recipe Buddy
The API costs $100/mo. after a free 2 weeks, so it will probably be shut down unless income could be generated by getting a percentage of revenue generated through recipe Buddy's traffic.
