Inspiration From experience, I am aware that most grants or funds require accountability from the Donor agencies and the existing models for capturing receipts for project transactions has some gaps. In addition, we are already reading and hearing of mismanagement of grants and funds including COVID-19 funds meant for developing countries. We want to ensure that these funds are spent correctly and transactions can be measured effectively
What it does This application will be a web and mobile application that will allow recipients of funds to issue and collect all receipts and invoices in the application and verify the entities issuing and receiving these receipts. External receipts can also be uploaded and Donor agencies can aggregate all their recipients in a single dashboard to see all their receipts, invoices and proof of payments. Also, they can see if the same receipts of proof of payment are being used for project or grant
How we built it We started out as a simple receipting solution for small businesses and later decided to add these features to serve the value proposition stated above. We hired software developers to work on this and manage the product value and development ourselves.
Challenges we ran into we found out that it will be better to have software developers among our team or inhouse to achieve speed and iterate more. we have faced the challenge financial limitation which has made it harder to complete this aspect of Donor and Recipient module
Accomplishments that we're proud of We have built a working solution that allows recipients to issue and receive invoices and receipts with unique identifiers. we have this on the web, Andriod, and iOS. We have some small businesses using this already and will like to incorporate the Donor-Recipient module
What we learned We have learned that team and adequate strength of the team are very important to build a good product or service. Also, technology will be a key contributor to improving our lives and relationships as humans
What's next for ReceiptNG -Accountability & transparency for COVID-19 Funds we will develop the outstanding modules and pilot with Donor institutions like the EU and AfDB.
