Inspiration

We believe that when the world comes together to put their minds towards recycling and saving the world, we can achieve it with no hesitation

What it does

Recanned is an app that uses AI to scan any item and tell you whether it is recyclable or not. In addition, it provides more incentive for both corporations and individuals to incorporate recycling into their daily routine by providing exciting rewards for both

How we built it

We have built a framework using Figma and we would like to explain our AI model using a powerpoint presentation. We also aim to build an API call system that sends an image to the AI and makes the AI do the object identification.

Challenges we ran into

We have been trying to tackle the problem of sending a file to the Hugging Face API Interface and getting a valid result back

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of our prototype on Figma and its functionality. In addition, we are also proud of the visual appeal of our presentation.

What we learned

We learned about the ineffectiveness of recycling and how it wastes a ton of energy trying to sort items. This all can be made easier if our app is used.

What's next for Recanned

We plan to expand our horizons of recycling and aim to use AI at a faster rate so that it can be used to help the workers at local recycling plants sort waste
