RecallVault is a local-first Uliya Skill for UGREEN AI NAS that turns a family's scattered photos, documents and files into one private, searchable memory — organised, understood and answerable in plain language, all inference on the NAS, nothing leaving the home.
The problem: Families store a decade of life on one NAS — 20,000+ photos, receipts, warranties, school and medical papers — yet cannot find anything. Cloud photo services solve search by uploading everything, trading privacy for convenience. When a warranty claim, school form or tax receipt is needed, the file exists but is lost.
Who it is for: NAS-owning families and home archivists holding sensitive household records. Secondary users are elderly parents managed by adult children, and home-based workers mixing personal and work files. It is built for non-technical users who ask questions, not queries — for example, 'When does the fridge warranty expire?'
Core features: (1) Photo memory: on-device face, place, occasion and duplicate clustering builds people albums and 'On this day' collections. (2) Document intelligence: OCR and extraction turn receipts, warranties and school/medical papers into a filed register — issuer, date, amount, expiry. (3) Ask-your-archive: cited natural-language answers that open the source file.
How it works: Uliya triggers RecallVault on new-file arrival or on request. Five steps run locally: ingest and fingerprint; classify (photo/document/other); extract (vision, OCR, entities); index into an on-NAS vector and structured store; serve albums, expiry alerts and answers. Originals never move without confirmation; every derived record links to its source. It is built on supported UGOS Skill capabilities only: file listing, read and metadata access; UGOS photo and AI indexing signals; on-device LLM and vision inference via Uliya; background jobs for overnight indexing; UGOS notifications for expiry alerts. Permissions are read-first; no external API, account or network egress.
Privacy and safety: All processing is on-NAS; the package is instructions only — no executables, telemetry or cloud calls. Destructive actions (delete, move, merge duplicates) require per-batch confirmation and are logged with undo. Face clusters stay unnamed until the owner labels them; medical documents are never summarised to other accounts.
What makes it different: Cloud assistants require upload; generic NAS search returns filenames, not answers. RecallVault unifies photo memory and household-document intelligence in one local index, answers with citations to the exact source file, and treats expiring warranties and renewals as first-class alerts — turning passive storage into an accountable family memory.
Round 2 plan (Nov 22-28, remote iDX6011 Pro): Day 1 deploy the pre-test package and index a 5,000-file synthetic family archive. Days 2-3 tune receipt/warranty extraction against 200 labelled documents. Days 4-5 photo clustering and Q&A citation checks. Day 6 failure pass (corrupt files, oversized scans). Day 7 freeze, record demo, submit Nov 30.
Success: at least 90% of test questions answered with the correct source file; at least 85% extraction accuracy on labelled documents; zero files leaving the NAS, verified by egress log; 1,000 photos per hour indexed on-device. Post-hackathon: multilingual documents, shared-family permissions, Skills Hub release for all UGOS users.
