Inspiration
Let's say you’re an employee going home after work. It's a hard day's night, and you really need someone to talk to, or someone to share the joy of radio music. You consider becoming a uber on a ride-sharing platform, but you don't have the time to pick leave your route and pick up people at somewhere else. You wonder if you can randomly grab some pleasant people to talk to in the car and earn yourself a free cup of coffee. You wonder what App can help, and you found REBU.
Sometimes you're in a hurry to the other side of the city, but there is a terrific traffic jam. You don't want to travel on the crowded and sweaty bus, and it's too expensive to pay for a ride-sharing platform. You might be nervous about a presentation in the next meeting, or you need a creative idea. Therefore, you might want to talk to people or spend time thinking in silence. Without a doubt, you opened REBU, select a driver that fits your need, walk to their place, and had a great transportation experience.
What it does
REBU is a driver-focused transportation platform for travelers to profit by giving others a ride. REBU helps drivers submit offers and provide passengers with the best offer available. For most people, commuting is boring and possibly never a comfortable experience. Choose a way to spending time with another soul in the city while earning a free cup of coffee, or get cheap rides!
How we built it
Rebu is constructed using MongoDB backend and NodeJS. This powerful combination allowed us to create a website with the ability to log in, create and join rides.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing features such as real-time matching algorithms, and user-friendly interfaces required overcoming technical challenges and ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Some members went in to the project with 0 knowledge of web development. Despite this, being able to learn and contribute to this project was a great accomplishment.
What we learned
Centering divs was a great challenge.
What's next for Rebu
Rebu aims to expand to incorporate it's own subscription service, it's services entail: Subscribe to unlock the REBU match function, and remove ads! The incoming function gives recommendation to both drivers and passengers, making it easy for users to find the co-riders with the same interests, such as preference of talking in car or not, and personal interests and talking topics such as sports, food, music, and movies! If you're satisfied with the co-riding experience, set your rider/passenger as your regular REBU match to ride regularly!
