Inspiration
Connections build up who we are, from who got us here, to where we belong now, to where we can go in the future. But within our busy lives, it can be easy to lose track. Forgetting birthdays, or conversely, only ever reaching out for birthdays, can erode personal relationships. Faltering on professional networking can hinder workplace development. With ReBridge, we tackle these issues head on, one event at a time.
What we do
ReBridge is a social connections mobile application, designed to track and remind you to keep up with social interactions, such as check-ins and birthday, between loved ones, acquaintances, and your professional network.
How we built it
Developed in Android Studio, databased with Firebase
Challenges we ran into
Often found it tricky merging conflicts in github and dealing with lagging. Also had to get familiar with many new frameworks and libraries.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Devised schema and app flow critically and creatively. Created a product we all personally want to use.
What we learned
How to delegate tasks. Full stack project structure. Collaboration with Git.
What's next for ReBridge
Amongst many other ideas, we'd love to implement:
- Connecting other social media and networking sites to both import/scrape more contacts, as well as allow users to directly reach out to them on the app
- Allowing users to identify their contacts with secondary tags and customize other types of events (anniversaries, graduations, special holidays, etc.)
- Include optional AI-prompts for possible messages, based on contact notes or chat history, especially for professional relationships
