💡 Inspiration AI agents are increasingly capable of taking real-world actions, but their runtime memory is often ephemeral. When an agent crashes, restarts, or encounters new evidence, it can lose the state and context required to continue safely. We built REASSEMBLE to treat agent memory as production infrastructure rather than volatile chat history.

⚙️ What it does REASSEMBLE persists both what the agent knows and what the agent is doing directly in CockroachDB. Semantic memories are retrieved through CockroachDB's vector index, while workflow checkpoints and execution state are stored transactionally. When a worker fails or crashes mid-task, a new worker can instantly reconstruct the workflow from CockroachDB and safely resume from the last committed checkpoint.

The system also allows new validated evidence to dynamically supersede older memories, ensuring future agent decisions evolve rather than repeatedly returning stale, hallucinated advice.

🪳 How CockroachDB is Used CockroachDB is the absolute system of record for REASSEMBLE's agentic memory. Distributed Vector Indexing: We store and retrieve 1024-dimensional semantic embeddings for long-term agent memories. Transactional Workflow State We durably store workflow status, checkpoint progress, step results, and audit events. Managed MCP Server We use the CockroachDB Managed MCP Server through Cursor to inspect the live cluster schema and query the same persistent state through an AI-accessible interface.

The result is a unified memory layer combining semantic retrieval and durable transactional state without needing a separate vector database.

☁️ How AWS is Used Amazon Bedrock Amazon Nova Lite provides context-augmented reasoning, while Amazon Titan Text Embeddings V2 converts memories and user queries into 1024-dimensional vectors. AWS Lambda: AWS Lambda hosts the REASSEMBLE agent runtime, REST API, workflow engine, and single-page web dashboard using a public Function URL.

This serverless architecture keeps the compute layer highly replaceable while persistent memory and workflow state remain safely in CockroachDB.
