Inspiration
The idea for RealtyRWA Social came from a simple observation: my generation spends hours scrolling through TikTok but struggles to invest in real estate due to high barriers to entry. I realized that if we could make property discovery as engaging as social media and investment as simple as liking a post, we could democratize real estate investing for millions of people.
The "aha moment" was watching friends effortlessly discover new restaurants, products, and experiences through short-form videos, while simultaneously complaining about being priced out of the housing market in Accra and other major African cities. Why couldn't real estate work the same way?
This challenge is particularly acute in Ghana and across Africa, where traditional real estate investment requires significant capital and connections. Many young Ghanaians are excluded from property ownership despite the continent's rapid urbanization and growing middle class creating unprecedented opportunities.
What it does
RealtyRWA Social transforms real estate investing into a social media experience. Users scroll through property videos TikTok-style, discovering investment opportunities with AI-powered scoring that predicts potential based on engagement metrics.
Key features:
- Vertical video feed with smooth scrolling navigation
- Fractional investing starting at just $25 per property share (accessible for emerging markets)
- AI scoring system that analyzes engagement to identify hot properties
- One-click investment flow with mock Web3 wallet integration
- Portfolio dashboard with real-time performance tracking
- Property upload system for owners to showcase their spaces
Users can browse anonymously but need to sign up to invest, creating a frictionless discovery experience that converts browsers into investors. This is especially powerful in markets like Ghana where crypto adoption is high but traditional investment options are limited.

Challenges we ran into
Video Performance: Creating smooth 60fps scrolling with multiple videos was challenging. Solved by implementing lazy loading, video preloading, and optimized state management.
State Complexity: Managing video player state, user authentication, investment data, and UI interactions required careful architecture. Zustand provided the perfect balance of simplicity and power.
Mobile Responsiveness: Adapting the TikTok-style experience for mobile while maintaining desktop functionality required extensive testing and responsive design patterns - critical for Africa's mobile-first internet usage.
User Experience Flow: Balancing anonymous browsing with authenticated features took multiple iterations to get the progressive disclosure right.
Real-time Updates: Ensuring portfolio values, engagement metrics, and investment calculations update instantly across components required careful state synchronization.
