Inspiration

I've always felt our personal contribution in the world comes from starting a business that either provides a good that solves peoples problems or meets peoples need. I thought of a business as an outward expression and culmination of someones intellectual worth. Personally, i've conceived of many ideas before but eventually had my "aha" moment in real estate and property. I experienced first hand the challenges related to getting actionable property data in Nigeria when i was looking to rent a place in Abuja. The challenges i experienced with agents, fragemented listings on web platforms all led my to decide i would build a platform that fills this gaps and becomes the market source of truth and reference for anything property data and real estate.

What it does

RealtorNet is not just a property listing marketplace. In product logic, it is built to solve the issue of property data visibility in Nigeria, built on a governed verification-first architecture. Instead of treating listings as the core business, RealtorNet harnesses the ecosystem around verified entities, like agencies, agents, and listings, to ensure that every property data is attributable, consistent, and trustworthy. Intended to enable not just property discovery, but decision-making across multiple users like renters, buyers, agencies, and even institutions that depend on reliable housing data in Nigeria.

How we built it

RealtorNet is agent-first, i began research with ChatGPT and ChatGPT, also design the product roadmap and workplan and then i used claude in the web to setup the database in supabase, the local build environment with support form Microsoft copilot, and then later i onboarded Google Gemini to join the team. in the later stages however the roles again switch, Claude web is now the orchestrator, designing the roadmap and workplan and dispatching tasks and responsibilities to Codex in the backend and the frontend, Microsoft Copilot helps in analyzing and pulling DB truths for the backend agents and Gemini sometimes also helps weith insights. our final term member is been openclaw who is restricted to read only and pulling truths from the backend and frontend

Challenges we ran into

Given that i have zero prior software development and engineering experience i began in complete darkness and learned hard and painful lessons along the way untill the fog cleared and the inital chaos took shape and became the product compass. painful lessons such as initially installing Postgis in the public schema cumulated a technical debt that proved costly to refactor later.other challenges like committing secrets to github, challenges with coordinating and getting the agents to stay on track with the project direction, code review etc where all tough lessons that eventually hardened the project and made it antifragile.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I started building realtorNet alone with zero prior Dev or software engineering experience. Zero team. zero guidance, Working only with LLMs and agents. more than 10 months later, I’ve emerged with a product. RealtorNet, a real estate data and property listing platform, built with the seriousness of industry veterans like Zillow and Realtor.com It is done, and now needs to enter into the wild, where it can get even better as it is iterated and improved with real user use cases.

What we learned

When i started building realtornet i did not even know what github was, how to set up a development environment, a database, cloud hosts and launching. Today i understand the full software development lifecycle end to end. I look back and appreciate the grit i had to keep wading throught the darkness Till i could see the light at the end of the tunnel

What's next for RealtorNet

Realtornet is now at the pre-launch phase. It now needs to enter into the wild, where it can get even better as it is iterated and improved with real user use cases.
