RealTimeDiscount (RTD)

Inspiration

All those late nights dealing with end-of-day (EOD) waste working at Peets. From the company policy of having to compost what's expired. To the horror stories of trying to distribute them to those in need on the streets of San Francisco.

What it does

In real time lets business offer discounts to nearby consumers.

How we built it

1) Using TomTom's map to display local businesses offering discounts. 2) Used TomTom routing on the map SDK to render directions selected business

Challenges we ran into

Integrating each team members varying skills and technologies.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Learning a new API and experimenting with new technologies. Working with team members that have widely varying backgrounds and coding languages.

What we learned

Geospatial programming for the first time and how exciting working with map based APIs can be!

What's next for RealTimeDiscount (RTD)

We're looking forward to refining our user experience and expanding to restaurants and possibly the non-profit sector.
