Inspiration

We were inspired by our deep passion to make a game that would cater to neurodiverse people and other people with disabilities.

What it does:

Realms is a game that will accumulate scores with each level that serves as feedback for how well the user is doing.

How we built it:

We built it completely from scratch on Gdevelop5.

Challenges we ran into:

We had difficulty understanding what to create for with the vastly open ended nature of a hackathon as beginners, and therefore had trouble coming up with and settling on an idea.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We are proud of the incredible research we gathered within the less that 20 hours since the time our team first met and how well our developers were able to craft a game from our findings in time.

What we learned:

We learned how to gather insights from our research, how to put those insights to action in our design, how to develop assets for the game, how to debug on a greater scale, how to collaborate between designers and developers, and most of all, how to deliver a MVP—a working product, within a short amount of time.

What's next for Realms:

Moving forward with Realms includes creating a more intuitive and friendly, and most importantly, fun UI to facilitate happy playtimes for our users, as well as fleshing out the setting and the story driving the main character. Further on, it includes developing more levels with scientifically backed research on the effect the level intends to have on the player, as well as including descriptions and promoting awareness of the neurodiverse and people with disabilities.
