Inspiration
We spent the first few hours of the hackathon in a cycle of just brainstorming. After scrapping over 10 different ideas, we finally landed on the problem we face every day: the death of trust on social media. As AI content becomes indistinguishable from reality, the internet needs a "truth layer." We built RealFeed because it’s a product we actually wanted to use, a place where verifying reality isn't a chore, but a game driven by the community.
What it does
RealFeed is a social app that lets the community act as the "truth layer" for the internet. You scroll through a "New" feed and swipe right if you think a post is real, or left if it’s AI-generated. If a post hits an 85% community trust score, it gets promoted to the "Real" feed. It’s got leaderboards for the most accurate voters, 7-day creator "reveals," and debate forums where people can argue over the "fakes."
Challenges we ran into
This wasn't a smooth process. We hit a wall with the code and kept running into errors that we had no clue how to fix. There were several moments where we were just stuck staring at the screen, having to hunt down YouTube tutorials and documentation just to get the core mechanics working. Figuring out the "unsure" shuffle button and the logic for the "Real" feed took way more trial and error than we expected.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are genuinely proud that we didn't give up when we were stuck on those 10 failed ideas. Moving from total disagreement to a fully functioning, investor-ready pitch in a few hours was a huge win for us. We’ve created a loop that actually makes the "boring" task of fact-checking feel like a competitive game.
What we learned
The biggest lesson was that you don't need to have all the answers at the start. We learned how to troubleshoot on the fly, use our resources (shoutout to YouTube and all our mentors), and prioritize building what matters. We realized that in a world flooded with AI, authenticity is the only thing people are still willing to pay for.
What's next for RealFeed
Later down the line we want to launch the "Real Creator Lab" to help creators use AI tools ethically. We also plan to polish the UI and eventually turn our crowd-sourced data into a "truth API" that other platforms can use to verify their own content.
