Inspiration

Housing crisis is real and the market only keeps rising upwards. In such times it's even more important to make the right decisions about spending your money on the right property and managing your finances in a way that you still have money left to keep going on and about your daily life.

What it does

It provides a tool in the form of a web app that is available all the time for a home buyer to self evaluate how far away they are in managing their finances before buying a house. It will redirect the prospective buyer to popular resources that could potentially help the buyer in the long run.

How I built it

I built the tool by writing decision strategies in Python and using the Streamlit platform to support my Python code and turn it into a web application which is then hosted by the platform on cloud giving my tool 24/7 availability and ease of access.

Challenges we ran into

The challenging part was coming up with good suggestions that would be useful for the buyer to better manage their finances after they realize they are still lacking in the buying process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of having made a tool which truly works and is definitely useful. The code was tested to work on a dataset of more than 10,000 rows of input values, showing the tool is reliable.

What we learned

I learned a lot about the home buying process and terms used throughout which I was not aware of before.

What's next for Home Buyers Tool

Introducing features like interactive visualizations which are supported by real time data showing how the housing market is moving in real time would be an interesting feature to add in the app.
