Inspiration
Honestly, seeing how blown away people were by seeing there software come to life. Being a long technology consultant, it was the first time in a long time that normal folk could now innovate. But my journey to getting from zero to the wow moment was the hardest. Once there it was easy. So I wanted to build an app that solved the cold start problem, let people evolve their ideas without getting stuck in the walmart of AI tools to ideate and build software.
What it does
Pretty simple, right now it is for tech consultants helping guide their clients or internal teams develop software. Think of a CRM that has a built-in requirements gathering engine that guides the consultant on what needs clarified. The AI translation layer transforms the software requirements and orchestrates agents to build out the bolt.new app. Happy path -> a 45 minute call between a client and a consultant produces an app that is 90% accurate. From months to minutes. Endless possibilities.
How we built it
We actually did a deep product workshop as we are building the application right now the traditional way. it was taking way too long so I decided to see what was possible using Bolt, supabase, n8n to rapidly prototype ideas. Then it just evolved. Having a goal to bring bolt.new to the masses required us to think incredibly deep about how to optimize bolt in parallel with understanding true needs. This helped us be incredibly thoughtful in building the app, being concrete in our needs and prompts to avoid the "your app is quite large" warning. :)
Challenges we ran into
The latest; we should have started with react-router. Honestly too many to name but overloading content in specific pages and views was a lesson that forced us to start from scratch. Trying to do too much in the frontend in regards to functions and triggers. Starting an app with out a clean initialization prompt was detrimental so it really gave us pause.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Honestly, we built an app, although not finished, that can simplify the process from a kernel of an idea to a functional prototype that could easily be converted to software. I am not an engineer but by doing that I have proved that this AI madness is not a harbinger of economic destruction but proof that ideas can now flourish and entrepreneurship is truly democratized. We built a multi-agent requirement, validation, and translation engine that can only get better. Bolt allowed us to get feedback and bring it to life.
What we learned
Honestly, so much. First off, the eye opening realization that these tools are really not just hype. Being non technical but having worked with engineers for so many years it was the first time I felt that wow, MVPs no longer are super complex and will take 3-4 months minimum. :) In addition, and this just reaffirms what we are building readytogo, is that be as clear as possible on high level UX and requirements before starting.
What's next for ReadytoGo
Good question. We actually have a development team building out the AIOS infrastructure and the whole web app. This bolt app was supposed to be just for beta and testing but we have already launched the app to internal beta users who are blown away by the value it gives them. It could be a situation where we just clean up the bolt.new code and keep using it. Bolt has changed how we are looking at software through practical experience.
