Inspiration

When a parent is hospitalized, dies, or a flood hits, families spend days hunting for the insurance policy, the property deed, the pension statement and the doctor's phone number. These files usually already sit on the family NAS, unnamed, scattered, and scanned sideways. Nobody will upload them to a cloud AI, because they are the most sensitive files a family owns.

What it does

Ready Folder audits only the NAS folders you authorize and writes an offline, plain-language family emergency binder: READ ME FIRST, an index by category with masked key facts and source file paths, a Missing and Expiring list, a Needs Human Review list, key contacts, and an audit log of every file opened. Optionally it curates a memorial photo album for one named person. It is an audit, not a search box: it tells you what is absent ("no home insurance document found since 2023"), not just what exists.

How it works

An orchestration-only Uliya Skill. The parent never calls cli.invoke; it delegates seven phases in order to the registered experts file-agent, document-agent, photo-agent and knowledge-agent, passing downstream only real completed results.

  • Scout: ug-filesystem ls/find/sha256sum, ug-filemgr scan-dedupe
  • Read and classify: ug-document metadata/qa, ug-photo vision-ocr/vision-vlm for image scans
  • Extract: ug-document extract (contract, medical-report, invoice schemas)
  • Gap audit: ug-knowledge collect-evidence
  • Write: ug-filesystem mkdir, ug-document writing, ug-knowledge save-text
  • Album: ug-photo search-picture, vision-vlm, create-album

Privacy by design: per-folder consent, read-only on originals, numbers masked to the last four characters, passwords and PINs flagged but never copied, outputs written to a new dated folder only after approval, and a hash ledger so monthly re-runs read only new or changed files.

Why it must run on a NAS

The NAS already holds the files, can read them privately with its own AI and photo index, and stays powered when phones and laptops fail. The binder is plain Markdown that stays readable when cloud accounts and the person who knew the passwords are gone.

What is built, and what is not

Built: the complete SKILL.md plus eight reference files, every step mapped to the UGREEN capability catalog (v2.0.0) and statically checked. Not built: runtime evidence. Still to test on a NAS: scanned-PDF coverage, on-device models, approval flow, masking reliability, scale.

Known limits

No scheduler capability exists, so re-runs are user-triggered. The Skill cannot set folder permissions, so it asks the user to confirm a restricted output folder. Poor scans may fail recognition. Masking is instruction-enforced, not cryptographic. No legal or medical advice.

Third-party components and AI tools

No third-party libraries are bundled. The UGREEN Uliya Skill Kit 0.7.3 was used as documentation only. AI tool used: Claude Code (Anthropic) for drafting and design; all content was reviewed by the author.
