Inspiration
During my TOEFL preparation, I sought a free application to enhance my reading comprehension skills. This envisioned app would offer passages on topics of my choice, feature high-quality questions, and include a teacher bot to pinpoint my weaknesses and provide detailed explanations for incorrect answers. Unable to find such a tool, I decided to develop it myself. Thanks to Partyrock.
What it does
The academic reading app allows users to input topics for which they want passages generated. Passages are created from excerpts from books, scholarly articles, newspapers, and magazines on the topic. The app generates 10 multiple-choice questions based on the passage. Users can check the right answers and clarify doubts and wrong answers using a teacher bot.
How we built it
User input widget: Allows users to input their topic of choice. Text generation widget: Generates passages based on the user's topic. Another text generation widget: Creates 10 multiple-choice questions related to the passage. Chatbot (I called it a teacher bot) widget: Provides correct answers, clarifies any questions, and offers suggestions to improve comprehensive reading skills."
Challenges we ran into
I intended to create a small widget after each question for users to provide their answers in the multiple-choice questions widget. Then, the teacher bot would check the answers from the multiple-choice questions widget. However, I encountered difficulties in creating the small widgets
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the teacher bot feature. It provides not only the correct answers to questions but also explanations, helping users understand the solutions better. The teacher bot acts as a private tutor, enhancing the learning experience.
What we learned
It's too easy to make your vision true with the help of AI. You can create your customized app for your home's needs.
What's next for ReadRight: Comprehension Mastery Tool
It's just a sample. you can remix and create multiple apps with the same logic. My son is going to create a Math Kangaroo preparation tool with this same idea.
