Readit

Inspiration

This started when we spent the entire day trying to come up with a project idea, after a couple of hours we got distracted and just started sharing dank memes. This proved to be an inspiration that we would base our whole project on.

What it does

It is a place where you can watch dank memes back to back and post them.

How we built it

We used HTML, CSS, and javascript. We also used the Qoom web hosting and data base. We had to learn javascript in one day to make it work because we only knew HTML and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges we ran into are that the Qoom database wasn't able to use the embed correctly and just posted the iframe in the website instead of posting the embed. So we made java script code that would find the html id of the database element and rewrite it without the quotations so that it embeds. With this rose another problem. It took the id of the html that that came first with the id. We did not know how this worked so it took a while until we realized that if we changed the id after we changed it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we learned JavaScript in a day. We are also happy that we made something that we are proud of and will probably use. We are really happy that we have a place where we can look or show other people dank memes.

What we learned

We learned Javascript and we also learned how to use databases in html code.

What's next for Readit

We will build a way for it to randomize the videos so that its new every time. We will also add a way to search memes using related keywords. Add a way to like videos. Whenever anyone watches something they will get a recommended meme.
