What's next for ReadEasy
Inspiration
For many students—especially those with ADHD, Dyslexia, or English language learners—traditional study materials are overwhelming. Dense walls of text, complex academic vocabulary, and endless chapters create cognitive fatigue. We wanted to build a distraction-free learning companion that acts like a personal tutor: someone who simplifies complex content into clear, bite-sized slides while actively testing comprehension.
What it does
ReadEasy transforms complex reading materials into an accessible, multi-sensory learning experience:
- Adaptive Simplification: Converts dense articles or documents into bite-sized slides across selectable reading levels (Very Simple, Simple, Original).
- Text-to-Speech: Integrated voice reader supporting auditory learners.
- Active Recall Quizzes: Automatically generates interactive quizzes based on the processed material.
- Weak Point Analysis: When a user makes an error, the system analyzes specific mistakes and explains concepts directly to reinforce retention.
- Accessibility UI: Minimalist, high-contrast interface equipped with a calming Dark Mode.
How we built it
- Frontend: Next.js (App Router), React, and Tailwind CSS for a lightweight, modern user experience.
- Architecture: API routes managing processing pipelines and structured comprehension analysis.
- Deployment: Hosted directly on Vercel with GitHub version control.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing aggressive simplification while strictly preserving factual accuracy and readability nuance within tight hackathon time limits.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Designing a clean, accessible layout that reduces cognitive overload and helps neurodivergent readers engage with dense subjects comfortably.
