Readchains

Inspiration

As a creative mind i have always loved seeing passion and fire being expressed into story, projects and ideals. especially when it comes to writing stories you can feel the passion of the writer in each page and chapter, so i thought a nice way to build a story talent is by showing how much passion one line of story can have each day.

What it does

readchains allow user to showcase their power of creativity through one line of story per day allow other users to vote for best creative line to continue the story the next day

How we built it

we first had to ponder on the idea of what we wanted to build, so we had to think of something to use build that would help us win but then an inspiration from the heavens came to our leader so we came up with a project not with a reason to win the hackathon but for the community, when it was time to build we ran into many challenges so we decided to use things we were familiar with we use prisma+postgresql to store the necessity and using the backend to send request to an external api then called the db and store the data in the database

Challenges we ran into

when installing the project on my local machine i did face some issue with understanding the template code int= other to build and going into the documentation did sherd some light in the darkness but it was a candle light i tried using redis to store data but when i saw in the documentation that every subreddit application uses a different redis db i wasn't really satisfied with it so i used an external api call but i also faced some issue which i ran to the docs but there were still errors and i couldn't because the i was getting my backend console log until i used the command line to run a log stream, i also faced issue understanding the docs because they weren't very clear i had to use the reddit Ai to understand and generate an example for me to use and i also think the docs should have example

Accomplishments that we're proud of

we proud as this is the start to a project that inspires writer which we'll continue on the reddit platform and on codegator.com.ng

What we learned

i learned a lot from using the reddit platform but my takeaway from this hackathon is all about reddit i knew about the reddit platform before this hackathon but this brought me into a new world to discover and build on

What's next for Readchains

we plan to implement a kind of shop system that users earn point from their story being selected to continue the next or from a number of scores, allowing them to buy boost item Eg an item from showing their community story as the top allowing people to upvote from the app
