Inspiration

When I finish a book, my next thought is often 'Oh I want to read something funny next...' or 'I want Fantasy!' but searching for book recs like that is too much work.

So I built an AI web app that does exactly that - enter your favourite books and what genre you want to read next, and get a list of recommended books!

What it does

'Read This Next' analyzes your list of favourite books and recommends books (in the genre you want) rated similarly by readers.

How I built it

I used Flask as the framework, Pico CSS for styling and Google's Gemini API. Built this in 4 hours cause exams 😭

Challenges I ran into

Getting the Gemini API to work in the Vercel deployment was the only challenge I had - turns out I hadn't included Google as a requirement for Vercel 👍🏻
