All around the world, social media is enabling extraordinary activists to connect with those around them who are passionate about the same issues. However, the current tools for activism are lacking in organization. Protest and meeting planners have to juggle Facebook groups, twitter, and other platforms just to get their message across, and many people end up left out simply because they don't know how to find like-minded activists.
Reactivist is here to change that.
What is Reactivist?
Reactivist is a social app designed with both professional and lay activists in mind. Our name is a play on words; we exist to help ordinary people to react to activism, and to help organizers to reach out to everyone who's interested in their cause. Anyone can find and connect to like-minded activists in their area. Groups can discuss current events and their shared cause on the group's dedicated page, which is open to anyone in the area who is interested. Push notifications allow those on the scene to organize impromptu meetings and protests with all those interested nearby.
Part of the beauty of Reactivist is that it enables activists to keep up with the unexpected twists and turns in life. It allows quick communication between large groups of people, providing an easy way to publicize and organize events with very little overhead. Thus, a protest or a debriefing meeting can be planned and enacted within minutes.
But it's also beautiful because if its simplicity and ease. A user can use it as they like, with no pressure. Join many groups and feel no pressure to participate in any but the most important events, or join only a couple of groups a play a part in leading the movement.
