What it does -> Our website is to help normalize counseling for students and encourage them to use these services more often. Many kids are living their lives, dealing with anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues that are being left unaddressed because of a variety of issues. Some parents may not even realize their child may have a mental health issue, some students or parents might even frown upon, or look down on those who seek help, and some may even go as far as pretending anything is wrong.
How we built it -> We used a collaborative development tool called Figma, to create the layout of the website and used HTML, CSS, JavaScript to code it.
Challenges we ran into -> We first tried to incorporate symbl.ai in our project but ran into issues of linking it to our site in some way. -> We also had trouble implementing the chat system on our website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of -> We are proud of coming up with an idea that is kind of beneficial to kids and young adults and also spreads awareness of mental health issues.
What we learned -> How to work better in teams -> How to use Figma, symbal.ai, and other product development tools
What's next for ReachOut -> an audio call/chat with your counselor that will be tracked by symbal.ai ->symbl.ai tracks the number of time a student uses positive and negative phrases in the voice call/chat conversations and give you a monthly/weekly review of your progress
