Inspiration

We know how much of a hassle it can be to schedule meet up in groups, especially during the school year when everyone has different schedules and is busy or free at different times. As engineering students, we have packed schedules, and it is hard for us to meet up with our friends. We created an application that makes planning meetups/study groups significantly easier and less time consuming!

What it does

When creating an account, the app asks you to import your Google Calendar as a URL. After logging in, the user is redirected to a map where they can see their friends’ current locations and their current status. All the other users profile pictures are in a green pin if they are FREE or in a red pin if they are BUSY – all according to the current time of the calendar they imported when creating their account). You can also get assistance planning study groups through our 'Create Study Groups' function. Where you select some of your friends and create a group – the app would then run through everyones calendar and find the closest time when everyone in the group is available.

How we built it

We built the app using React Native and Google Maps API, and Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

Our team took some time learning how to use React Native, as it was our first time doing App Development. We also took some time learning how to use the Google Cloud API and successfully incorporating it successfully in our program.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to learn how to use React Native and JavaScript in less than 24 hours. We also had to incorporate different components like maps, drop down lists, tabs, etc. even though none of us had experience with app development.
