Inspiration

For our project we wanted to build something that would be useful for ourselves and our communities at large. We saw that this hackathon had a lot of talented people we wanted to network with but we didn't have the time (or sometimes the social skills) to do so.

What it does

Our app allows users to generate QR and text codes that allow themselves and other users to join pools of users sharing their linkedins. These pools are visualized as tables of users who have opted in complete with their names, profile pictures, and a button to add them.

How we built it

We built this dynamic web app using SQLite, Vultr hosting, Python Flask, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. The stack is pretty light and allowed us to focus on the application over learning a complex tech stack.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a good deal of git issues because people were pulling and merging so quickly. Additionally there was a learning curve as our group had to familiarize with python flask.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we developed a useful app in 24 hours that will actually be of utility to our team and others in the future and even today!

What we learned

We learned an immense amount technical and non technical in this project. Databases, linux web hosting, full stack web development, our team was somewhat new to this environment so we learned a ton on the fly!

What's next for Reach

The LinkedIn API offers us more info about users that will allow us to prioritize connections that users have common traits with. This in addition to reports on the metrics of how many people joined pools or clicked links gives us exciting room for growth in future sprints!
