Inspiration

RE:sign 2.22 is a continuation of RE:sign.

What it does

RE:sign 2.22 is an online classroom web platform that provides students and teachers resources to learn and teach American Sign Language. The web app is hosted by Microsoft Azure and uses a Leap Motion in the 'Sandbox' area to the original RE:sign project which provides an environment where users can make basic finger spelling gestures above the Leap Motion controller, to which it will display a visualization of the user's action and print out the corresponding letter.

How I built it

Donning my grandfather's ancient robes from the Catalan middle ages, I used the Dead Sea Scrolls to achieve the scripts and code necessary to perform the proper sacrifices for another step towards the Human Instrumentality Project.

Challenges I ran into

This was the first website I built/deployed so going for the right design and feel was challenging, especially with the formatting and HTML/CSS and a few Javascript scripts. Robert Cobb's Medium post was what I relied on most to build this web app platform. I also had issues with the domain name and getting Microsoft Azure to deploy my web app took a min but I eventually got it to work. I also attempted to improve the original algorithm used in RE:sign but ran out of time to do so - it will be something to improve upon in the future, perhaps incorporate machine learning into the process as well.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

What's next for RE:sign 2.22

The base web app has been set up but currently only features the 'sandbox' (from the original RE:sign). Future updates will include recording gestures, logging in, and a extensive Student/Teacher portal(s).
