Get an Estimate
We're a group of computer science majors who went to a book sale the day before the hackathon and realized the large market for cheap books. The idea is to turn disposable plastic paper or into a non-disposable item like books. The resulting paper will be sold cheaply and also used to print books which will also be sold for cheap. The main target is plastics generated by manufacturing plants. The aim is to offset the CO2 emissions produced by industry transportation.
It's a platform that allows regular people to exchange plastic for books and lets companies donate their plastic and buy the resulting paper cheaper than regular paper made from trees. We provide books on a made-to-order basis with the opportunity to pay with recyclables instead of money.
The current prototype is just a website that showcases the idea in action.
The idea of creating paper from plastic has been thought of by many others but with the development of KVICs plastic to paper, the method innovated the efficiency of our idea. We wanted to put a spin on recycling by instead sending it to a depo and feeling like you did something right but further encouraging people by turning it from a donation to an exchange.
This is our first hackathon and we're proud of how much we were able to accomplish in such a short time.
We learned a lot about plastic and recycling from this hackathon.
We love our idea and we want to pursue it and see where it goes.
