Inspiration Re-Pac is inspired by Pac-Man — a nostalgic reimagining of the chase, rebuilt as a peaceful voxel world.

What It Does Players can walk around, collect glowing cubes (dots), and meet others in a shared world. Each player chooses to become PAC (yellow hoodie) or Ghost (pink, blue or magenta hoodie), represented through Ready Player Me avatars. It’s not about chasing anymore — it’s about exploring and reconnecting in a post-game world.

How We Built It The prototype is built using Three.js for the 3D world, and Ready Player Me for avatars. We use BufferGeometry to generate terrain and dot clusters dynamically. The project is designed to run on web and mobile browsers, optimized for smooth interaction and lightweight physics.

Challenges We Ran Into Character control and multiplayer synchronization were the biggest challenges, alongside integrating avatar rendering and physics within limited browser performance.

Accomplishments That We’re Proud Of Rebuilding a beloved retro concept into a peaceful world that still feels alive and expressive — without combat.

What We Learned We explored how emotional tone and world design can shift when traditional game mechanics are reversed.

What’s Next for Re-Pac We plan to add social voice chat, text-to-speech interactions, and cooperative “energy building” events — where PACs and Ghosts work together to light up the world again.
