So in my fraternity, a common problem is that people forget to do stuff and it's hard to find the best way to remind someone, we're friends on facebook, we have slack, emails, numbers, etc., but it's hard to know which is the best way to get in touch with someone is. When you don't have a large company that uses a standard platform, it can be hard to keep stuff consistent, so rather than having us conform to the communication platform, I wanted the platform to work for us.

What it does

There's a script that processes Google Sheets that has our schedule for cleaning duty, determines if it needs to send a reminder, then does so through the preferred method by using API's

How I built it

Python scripts, APIs, and love. For the actual practical side, I've put the code onto a beagleboard that will perpetually be in the house

Challenges I ran into

Configuring the APIs mostly and working alone :(

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I did it by myself. It's actually something I want to use to improve the house and whatnot

What I learned

APIs are cray cray

What's next for RE:Mind

So I actually do really wanna use this. I want to make it more robust to adhere to different formats, use it for other tasks around the house such as partyworks and dinner duty. Another cool feature would be help keep track of people when they do or don't do their job as we have a fining and merit system. I could also see this being used in other clubs and organizations.
