RD — Ramrod, detective agent

Inspiration

Our inspiration was a detective, sort of. We wanted to facilitate the whole investigation ordeal that real people do to find shell companies, making it way easier and a whole lot faster—by a genius agent. Sherlock Holmes, one of the most popular and mainstream detectives, is efficient—though not as fast as a machine—precise, and intellectual.

What it does

Our agent investigates a company's fiscal history, assets, infrastructure, staff, to find inconsistencies and gather evidence for human action. It does not directly accuse nor scream “they are committing fraud”, it instead collects the inconsistencies into a folder and hands it over to humans, allowing them to make a decision thousands of times faster before the shell company disappears.

How we built it

We built it using Next.js because of its speed and how easy it was to understand our errors without having to investigate line by line. We used Python for the AI functions and decided to make the app as intuitive as possible, with an easy-to-follow tutorial that appears when you first open the app, so users can understand what they’re doing.

Challenges we ran into

API Keys—we had never worked with API keys before. In fact, you could say we’re WAY too new to this field, since we often got stuck because we didn’t understand what was happening with our agent or why it was failing—and, as always, time…

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're starting to learn how to use new platforms we've never used before, and our front-end designs are getting better every day—and every day we can improve a little more to become even better.

What we learned

As I mentioned earlier, we’re happy to have had the opportunity to learn new platforms we’d never used before, but above all, we’re happy to have learned how to work under pressure, under stress, and sometimes while dealing with the occasional medical issue.

What's next for RD — Detective Agent

Let's finish it!! We want to polish it so it can compete with the best platforms on the market today. We know the potential our project has—potential that, perhaps in the rush of a hackathon, we weren't able to fully realize—but we won't let this project stall. Even if we lose, we'll keep moving forward to complete something that could revolutionize the future of financial security.
