Inspiration

We were inspired by a book my partner Charles was writing. We turned it into a script, then 22 short episodes and a graphic novel script, with the help of the alpha of our format flipping storytelling software Screenburn.

What it does

It’s an animated pilot for a 22 episode season of a short form series. Rayne Alaina, a former marine, lives in hiding in Malibu - but by night her online avatar wows the masses. When a murder happens next door and her best friend disappears, Rayne has to come out of hiding…

How we built it

Human writing, flipped format with our own development tool Screenburn (now in Beta) and worked with the commercial AI engines for visuals.

Challenges we ran into

The tools were not ready at the time we started. We started with music videos and a graphic novel, progressing to several versions of the pilot episode.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were invited by BFI to screen the pilot at Cannes Film Festival!

What we learned

We want to make the show as a hybrid production, and we need to switch to a node based workflow to make the whole show. Limitations with the commercial tools make it impossible to show violence or sexual content.

What's next for Raynmaker

22 full episodes in spring - and maybe a live action??
