🌟 Inspiration
We were inspired by the long wait times and lack of emergency prioritization in hospitals, especially in rural areas. Many patients struggle to get timely attention, and hospitals often lack tools to triage cases based on severity. We wanted to build something simple but impactful using AI and real-time tech to solve this.
🏥 What it does
RayCare+ is a hospital queue management and emergency triage web app. It allows:
- Patients to register online
- Quick emergency booking through a 5-question form
- Real-time queue updates using Firebase Hospitals can see a real-time view of incoming patients and emergencies, helping them act faster.
🛠️ How we built it
Frontend: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for a clean, responsive interface Backend: Firebase is used for real-time database and user management AI Integration: Form Handling: JavaScript-based 5-question emergency triage form
🚧 Challenges we ran into
- Learning and integrating AWS AI tools like Bedrock and SageMaker
- Structuring real-time data flow using Firebase
- Creating a balance between user simplicity and medical accuracy
- Designing a UI that's clean but also shows critical info quickly
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a working real-time queue system using Firebase
- Successfully integrated generative AI for emergency triage
- Designed a simple and accessible patient experience
- Delivered a working prototype within a limited time
📚 What we learned
- Firebase is powerful for real-time applications and simple to integrate
- AWS generative AI tools can be leveraged even in healthcare scenarios
- Designing healthcare apps needs special focus on simplicity and speed
- Building AI + connectivity solutions is very possible even for small teams
🔮 What's next for RayCare Queue
- Improve the triage AI model with better datasets
- Add multilingual support for the chatbot
- Expand to support multiple hospital branches
- Create a mobile-friendly version or a lightweight app
- Test it with real users or in a small clinic setup
