Inspiration
To create something fun and lively in these time of lockdown. I started looking through the AR projects over the internet and I did not come across any project that utilizes pixel art as a theme. This inspired me to make a pixel art style WorldAR.
.## What it does
It lets you groove around with fun little minions on your table using plane tracking feature at the back of the mobile camera.
How I built it
I made all the arts using Aseprite, Affinity Designer. Animated them using Juice FX. I used Spark AR for augmenting these virtual art into the real life. I used the music from spark AR library.
Challenges I ran into
I had zero experience in pixel arts and animation but that was the whole gist of the project that I was getting into. So I buckled up learned by hit and trial method and honestly it was fun getting into learning pixel art. Next challenge was to animate these art and I have no knowledge in animation so I took a help of a fun little software "Juice FX" to animate my pixel art in no time. In all it was a fun experience where I learned something new along the way.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Made my first pixel art and animation and a got a better understanding of the pipeline used in different environments.
What I learned
Pixel art, some animations and a better understanding of pipelines.
What's next for Rave_AR
I am looking forward to add a emissive dancing floor, add some drinks and table or maybe adding a little animation which tells a fun little story.
