Inspiration

We never had a place online that would suggest roadtrips that had other people who took that road trip endorsing them, so we decided to go with this idea. Also we were interested in web development.

What it does

This project gives you a place to post your trips and see what trips other people have gone on to get inspiration for road trips. It has a home page, explore page, sign in and sign up tab, and a post tab.

How we built it

We used React, CSS, Firebase database, and VSCode to build this. In order to work together, we used a git integrated environment.

Challenges we ran into

It has been challenging to learn React and CSS because a lot of the tutorials and websites do not discuss what needs to be previously imported in the text editor. Also, the database did not receive image URLs and that was challenging for our media for posts. We also had to get used to using git.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the design and functionality of the website as it is our first hackathon. We are just glad to have a good learning opportunity which gave us skills which we will surely use in the future.

What we learned

We learned that more foundation is helpful in languages like React and CSS because which can be tricky to navigate. We also learned the importance of communication between teammates.

What's next for RateMyTrip

We are going to develop more functionality and allow more media to be displayed in each tab. At the end, we had a problem with getting the search function working so we had to exclude it from our demo but we were very close.
