Inspiration

Our inspiration was RateMyProfessor because all college students use this website to determine which professors would suit their learning style. We felt that we could utilize the same format to apply to other aspects of Stony Brook that students would like more information about.

What it does

Each student will be able to view and create a review for places and clubs on the Stony Book campus. For example, they are able to review clubs, dining halls, food courts, dorms, and study places.

How we built it

We used React.js to create our web application.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was definitely creating a project from scratch in the span of 24 hours. Other challenges were that our team mostly consists of beginners, so we had to learn and code at the same time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to accomplish the design and routing for our web app in a short time frame.

What we learned

We learned how to generate web pages and connect them using React.js.

What's next for RateMySBU

We plan to implement a backend using Express.js and MongoDB and include photos for each place/club.
