Rate My Professor
What it does
Write and find reviews and ratings for classes at USC. It is a forum specifically for sharing information about classes here which is not currently a product that exists but one that would be very helpful to students.
How we built it
We used java for the backend code. The frontend was made using javascript and the react framework.
Challenges we ran into
Connecting the back end and front end proved to be difficult for us and we weren't able to achieve this with the allotted time given our experience. We discovered near the end that CORS doesn't allow us to fetch json files with native javascript in the browser.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of an aesthetically pleasing and well designed front end. Our ability to work together to create a product which, given a little more time, can come together to be something helpful to our community.
What we learned
We learned teamwork and project management skills beyond what we've done before in classes.
What's next for Rate My Classes
In the future, we intend to continue work on the project and come up with a finalized and fully functional version that properly stores data from user interactions.
