This project was developed for a high school in Kigali, Africa where they are using manual school bell system which is inefficient and obsolete. The hardware was keep as simple as possible so it could be easily installed in the school. It consisted of a Raspberry Pi 3(available in abundance in Africa) which could operate an AC relay which would in turn control the school bell electrical system. The code was entirely in Python and used a few of the standard libraries to obtain the local time (according to the timezone) as well as synchronize it periodically. What lies ahead is completing the hardware by testing the interface with AC relay and arranging it to be installed in the school. The code underwent exhaustive testing and is ready to be integrated with the hardware.
