Inspiration
Rap! I'd like to thank Ashley Madison for the tagline and its security flaws, which ultimately shaped rapitup's auth system.
What it does
It's a place for you and your buddies to lay down some rhymes while earning rep (known as "merit" on rapitup) in the process. When you write a rap, you have two options. You can either make it a blurb and thus prevent it from being responded to, or you can put it out for the world to see. If you go with the latter option, all it takes is someone to take offense to what you said in your sweet 16 and blam! You now have a battle on your hands.
A battle continues until one rapper has won two more rounds than the other and three or more rounds in total (or one of the rappers forfeits). The winner of a round is determined by whose rap has received the most votes by the end of the round, which is 10 minutes from the time both rappers have submitted their raps.

How I built it
Using RoR. A notable mention goes to the delayed_job gem for making hands-free battles a reality.
What's next for rapitup
To continue inspiring kids to write dusty buggers.
