Inspiration

We were inspired by the Disney randomizer filter trend and Ellen Degeneres's Rapid Fire Question minigame. We wanted to create a game that is very engaging for both the person recording the video and the person they are recording. Also, following the trend of influencers and content creation, we created a game so that they could have an easy way to let their viewers get to know them.

What it does

Our World Effect filter is a game wherein the user records their friend and rapidly asks them simple questions about them. Depending on how many questions they can answer in 10 seconds, a different world effect will be displayed. There are effects for 4 'prizes': (1) answering less than 2 questions, (2) answering 3-4 questions, (3) answering 5-7 questions and (4) answering 8 or more questions. The more questions you answer, the better the world effect prize you get.

How I built it

We used SparkAR to create the Instagram world effect. We also scripted using Javascript to get extra functionality for the game.

Challenges I ran into

The challenges we ran to were connecting native patches to scripting. This was a little constricting, especially since we wanted to add a visible timer into the game.

We also had difficulty adding in functionality that makes the randomizer not repeat itself.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are very proud of the whole project because this is the first filter we have ever created. Also, we learned the whole SparkAR application in a span of a few days.

What I learned

We learned that SparkAR is a really awesome way to get the community involved in creating their own creative content whether it be as the Filter creator or even just users creating their own content for their stories. We would love to create more filters on SparkAR in the future!

What's next for Rapid Fire AR Game

We plan to add in more questions as time goes by. Also, we would love to submit it to Instagram so that real users can play with our filter with their friends and family.
