Inspiration

Loneliness among Gen-Z has become a growing issue. Many young people struggle with their emotions but often don’t have a safe space to express how they feel. While exploring this topic online and learning from LLM tools, we began to understand how common emotional isolation has become. This led us to think: what if we could bring people who feel alone together on a single platform where they could freely express their thoughts and feelings? From this idea, we created a platform where users can rant about their emotions, connect with others who feel the same way, and also track their mental well-being. Our idea was also inspired by the movie Her, which explores the relationship between humans and emotionally intelligent technology.

What it does

Our solution has two main components:

  1. Rant Page This is a space where users can share their thoughts, frustrations, or emotions openly. It allows people to express themselves freely and connect with others who may be experiencing similar feelings.
  2. RANTRACKER The tracker focuses on emotional and mental well-being. It aims to monitor indicators such as emotional levels, anxiety patterns, estimated cortisol trends, and signs of sleep deprivation, helping users better understand their mental health.

How we built it

We designed the prototype primarily using Figma, which helped us quickly create the app interface and visualize both the rant platform and the tracker. To gain domain knowledge and explore ideas, we used AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. We also experimented with Google’s Anti-Gravity prototype tool to explore example app structures and features. For design inspiration and UI ideas, we explored platforms like Pinterest, which helped us shape the visual concept of the app.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was time. The project timeline overlapped with our university semester exams, which meant we lost two valuable days. As a result, we had to complete most of the work in just 4–5 hours. Another challenge was that some team members initially had limited knowledge about the domain. We had to quickly share what we learned and bring everyone up to speed. We also experienced minor network issues, which slowed us down during development. Despite these difficulties, we stayed focused and worked together to complete the prototype within the limited time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Even with such limited time and resources, our team worked together effectively. Everyone took responsibility for their part and contributed their best effort. We are proud that we were able to transform an idea about loneliness and emotional support into a working prototype in just a few hours. More importantly, we built something that addresses a real issue faced by many people today. Whether we win or not, we’re proud of the teamwork, learning experience, and the meaningful idea we created together.

What we learned

During the development of RANT & RANTRACKER HUB, we learned a lot about both technology and people. We realized that loneliness among Gen-Z is a real and growing problem. Many people want to share their feelings but don’t always have a safe space to do it. This motivated us to build a platform where people can express themselves freely and feel less alone. On the technical side, we saw how powerful AI tools can be when time is limited. Using Figma for designing and AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini helped us quickly gather ideas and build our prototype. Since we only had about 4–5 hours to work due to semester exams, teamwork became essential. We divided tasks, supported each other, and worked efficiently under pressure. Overall, this experience taught us that building a meaningful product requires both technical skills and a deep understanding of people’s emotions and needs.

What's next for RANT and RANTRACKER HUB

Our vision for RANT & RANTRACKER HUB is to grow it from a simple prototype into a complete emotional wellness platform for Gen-Z. First, we plan to add AI-powered emotional analysis that can understand users’ rants, detect emotions like stress or anxiety, and respond with supportive suggestions and guidance. We also want to expand the RANTRACKER system to monitor patterns such as stress levels, anxiety trends, sleep deprivation, and estimated cortisol levels. Using user inputs and behavioral data, the app can provide personalized insights to help users manage their mental health better.

Another goal is to introduce a smart mood dashboard where users can see their emotional patterns, such as weekly mood trends, common stress triggers, and how sleep affects their mood. To build stronger connections, we plan to create support circles, small communities where people facing similar struggles can share experiences and support each other. We also plan to launch the app first in college campuses, where loneliness and academic pressure are common, allowing us to gather real feedback and improve the platform. Ultimately, our goal is to build a platform where people can express their emotions, feel supported, and work toward better mental well-being without feeling alone.
