🚀 Inspiration

Raner was born out of a frustration shared by runners across the globe: there’s no centralized platform to discover, plan, and participate in races.
Everything is fragmented — race listings live on outdated websites or scattered across social media, registration platforms are clunky, and access to coaching, gear, nutrition, or insurance is often out of reach.

We saw an opportunity to build a digital ecosystem tailored to runners and event organizers in the region.

The endurance sports market is massive and underserved. In Mexico alone, it’s valued at USD $60M annually, but with rising participation and spend, the addressable market is closer to $400M/year. With over 2,000 races and 1.5M+ active runners, there’s growing demand for smarter tools to discover events, plan seasons, and access services.

Raner is aiming to capture 20% of the Mexican market within 3 years, while expanding across the Americas. The opportunity is significant — the U.S. market alone is worth ~$8B/year.

Raner isn’t just a platform. It’s a movement toward making endurance sports more accessible, connected, and intelligent.

🏃‍♀️ What It Does

Raner is the all-in-one AI platform for runners, consolidating everything they need:

  • Race Discovery
A curated, searchable calendar of trail runs, marathons, half marathons, 10K, 5K and every possible distance.

  • Personalized Planning
Filter races by location, date, distance, or terrain to plan your season with precision.

  • Community & Services Hub
Connect with coaches, nutritionists, and physiotherapists — plus find exclusive deals, insurance, and partner perks.

  • AI-powered Assistance
RANER.AI helps runners ask questions, find races that match their goals, and get recommendations for gear, training, and recovery.

  • Event Organizer Tools
Tools for race directors to list events, manage registrations, and boost visibility.

We’re building more than a race calendar — we’re building an AI-enabled digital home for runners.

🛠️ How We Built It

Raner was built using a modern, AI-powered stack designed for speed, automation, and scalability.

At the core, 90% of the development was done in Bolt.new — an AI-driven development platform.
The remaining 10% was supported by ChatGPT (for ideation and prompt refinement) and Cursor (for targeted code edits).

🔧 Tech Stack Overview

  • Netlify – Deployments
  • Supabase – Database, Authentication, Storage, Edge Functions
  • OpenAI – AI Assistants, Marketing Automations
  • Stripe – Membership Subscriptions & Payments
  • Tavus – Personalized Virtual Coach Videos
  • ElevenLabs – Podcast Automation
  • Resend – Email Communications
  • Twilio – SMS Communications

With this stack, we went from idea to working product in just a few days — and we’re continuing to build and scale Raner using Bolt.new as our foundation.

⚠️ Challenges We Ran Into

  • Data Fragmentation
Many races aren’t listed consistently across the internet. Building a trustworthy and comprehensive race database required manual curation and outreach.

  • Localization
The Americas market is diverse in tech adoption, languages, and payment behaviors. We had to carefully design with accessibility and regional expectations in mind.

  • Time Constraints
Shipping a full platform — with real utility, solid UX, and integrations — within a hackathon timeframe pushed us to stay focused and work fast.

  • Project Scope + Token Limits
The project became quite large, and using Bolt.new at scale quickly consumed tokens. We hit alert limits often and had to upgrade our plan multiple times to keep building.

  • AI Assistant Performance (OpenAI API)
We initially used the OpenAI Assistants API, but response times were extremely slow. We rolled back to standard OpenAI function calling for better performance.

🏆 Accomplishments We're Proud Of

  • Validated a Real Problem
Through quick outreach and feedback, we confirmed strong demand from both runners and organizers for a unified platform.

  • Shipped a Functional MVP
Delivered in record time — complete with real race data, smart filters, and a clean, intuitive user experience.

  • Integrated AI as a Core Feature
Not just a gimmick — our assistant provides real, useful recommendations to help runners make better decisions.

  • Built a Cohesive Brand
From naming and UI to tone and vision, we created a clear, scalable brand that resonates with the running community.

  • Proved the Power of Vibe Coding
Vibe Coding is here to stay — it’s the future of software development, and this project shows what’s possible when builders embrace AI-first tools like Bolt.new.

📚 What We Learned

Through early interviews with runners, organizers, and coaches, we learned that the problem isn’t just finding races — it’s the entire journey.
Runners need better tools to plan their seasons, register efficiently, connect with experts, and share their experiences.
Organizers need more visibility and smarter ways to manage their events.

Most importantly, we discovered that runners are craving a sense of community and ongoing value — not just another registration form.

From a technical standpoint, we also learned that there’s almost nothing that can’t be built with Vibe Coding.
If you can think it, AI and tools like Bolt.new can help you build it — fast.
